I can’t tell you how pumped my husband is to watch his old quarterback, Tom Brady, take the field in Gillette Stadium on October 16th. Now, although Matt played football for most of his life, he isn’t exactly a die hard football fan. Weird, I know. As a matter of fact, he can probably count on both hands the number of times he’s actually watched a game beginning to end. Well, maybe one hand.

But, when it comes to the way Roger Godell has been allowed to “lead” the NFL into national embarrassment, Matt Light is fully engaged.

“Deflategate” was a joke. I know there are plenty of people around the country who desperately want to cling to the fairytale narrative that the Patriots aren’t really as good as their record shows. That somehow, Bill and the entire Patriots organization could not have possibly achieved all their success through talent, hard work, and determination.

If you are one of these people, I am terribly sorry that your team has let you down (I’m a Boilermaker, so I’m no stranger to gridiron heartbreak), but please do not send me Patriot hate mail. Football is fun, but I don’t take it as seriously as one would imagine a proper “WAG” should. For me, on a scale of relative real world importance, football falls just slightly above my personal commitment to having Indiana’s nickname officially change to “The Boilermaker State”.

That being said, the work we do through the Light Foundation  is extremely high on that list. So, our good friend and Light Foundation board member, Brian McCarthy came up with a brilliant idea to turn the unfortunate situation of Tom Brady’s deliberate oppression by “the man” into an incredibly positive and fun opportunity.
